This agreement describes the terms on which CosmicSupremacy.com offers you access to an account to play the Cosmic Supremacy online strategy game.

Use of this website and the services provided via it are conditional upon you accepting the following Terms and Conditions. Unless otherwise specified, your acceptance shall be indicated by your use of this website. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions, you must not use this website.

To play Cosmic Supremacy or use the features of this website, we require you to create an account, and choose a username and password. All valid account holders are hereby licensed to play Cosmic Supremacy and to download and use our client software and connect to our servers for the sole purpose of playing Cosmic Supremacy, subject to their compliance with these terms and conditions.

You must not choose a Username that infringes the rights of any third party, impersonates CosmicSupremacy.com staff or other users, or which is deliberately confusing or which is offensive, racist, obscene or otherwise unlawful. We reserve the right to change any Username for any reason.

You agree to keep your Password safe at all times and not to disclose it to any other person. You must ensure that your computer is kept free of viruses and Trojans to ensure the safety of your password. Real CosmicSupremacy.com staff will never ask you for your current password.

You may not transfer or lend your account to anyone else, or permit anyone else to use your account, and you may not accept an account which anybody else offers you. You are only allowed to create 1 Account, and you are liable for all activities conducted through the Account.

We reserve the right to delete your account, block your access to our website and services, and/or take further legal action if you violate any of these terms and conditions. We may delete or modify any account at any time for any reason.

You must not exploit any cheats or errors which you find in Cosmic Supremacy. Any cheats or errors which you discover must be reported immediately to us.

You must not attempt to use other programs in conjunction with Cosmic Supremacy to give yourself an unfair advantage. You may not use any bots or macros to control the game for you. You agree not to distribute such programs to other Cosmic Supremacy players.

You must not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the Cosmic Supremacy client in any way. You must not use a modified/customised version of the Cosmic Supremacy client. You must not create or provide any other means by which Cosmic Supremacy may be played by others (including, without limitation, replacement or modified client/server software, server emulators).

You must not misuse any of our customer service facilities. You must not deliberately enter false information into any of the forms on our website, or in Cosmic Supremacy. You must not encourage, or attempt to trick other players into breaking our rules.

We may accept ideas and game additions that are submitted by users. You agree that by submitting material for inclusion in Cosmic Supremacy you are giving us a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use and/or modify the submitted materials as we see fit. You agree that you will not withdraw the submission or attempt to make a charge for its use. Furthermore you warrant that you are the exclusive copyright holder of the submission, and that the submission in no way violates any other person or entity's rights.

We will make reasonable commercial efforts to ensure that this web site is available 24 hours per day without any interruptions. However, we reserve the right to make this web site unavailable at any time or to restrict access to parts or all of this website without notice.

The following are basic rules, and people need to use their common sense rather than have us spell out every scenario. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Respect is the key.

Keep it clean and respectful. There will be no flaming of any kind, joking around is fine, but being insulting to others just for your own amusement will not be tolerated. We will not tolerate any kind of harassment.

Debating is fine, insulting is not. Keep debates on topic and do not insult any other user.

Please ensure that all posts are written in English. This will allow the forum moderators to be able to see all posts and ensure that the forums are moderated correctly.

Do not post the same discussion more than once on a discussion forum or on many forums. Duplicate discussions can be frustrating for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate discussions will be deleted. Reposting the same message repeatedly can be interpreted as SPAM and could result in a permanent ban.

It is at the discretion of the moderators if a thread or post should be deleted, so don't make threads asking why such and such a thread was deleted.

If a specific post of yours was edited or removed, it will be because you have broken either one of the main forum guidelines here or a forum specific rule. We will be notifying you via a private message in this case.

A moderator's decision is FINAL. No questions asked.

The same rules of conduct that apply in the Forum also apply In-Game, in the web-based Chat-Room, and everywhere else on the Cosmic Supremacy web-page.

Specifically, keep conversations clean and respectful. Treat other players as you would like to be treated. Swearing, bad language or getting personal is not tolerated, and may result in a permanent ban from the game. The same counts for inappropriate naming of planets, solar-systems, ships and fleets, or any other game-object in the Cosmic Supremacy client.

If you think you encountered a case of misconduct anywhere in the game, then please contact the Administrators, so that they can take the appropriate steps.

Whilst we reserve the right to monitor and take action upon inappropriate use of this web site (including the posting of inappropriate or offensive material via the Forum or otherwise), we cannot guarantee that this web site will not contain any content provided by third parties that is inappropriate, offensive or otherwise objectionable.

Cosmic Supremacy: Resurgence is a volunteer revival of the game, run without profit. This section says what the game and this site keep about you, who can see it, and how long it is kept. It is meant for players aged 13 and up.

Playing on your own PC

The Tutorial, the Demo and Single Player run entirely on your PC.

Playing online

When you play a galaxy, the server keeps:

• your player name, your civilisation's name and the names you give things in the game, which other players in the galaxy may see;
• the messages you send in the game. They travel inside the galaxy's turns, which every player in it receives, and the game shows each one only to the players it was sent to;
• your turns, of which the server keeps only your last 18, and the galaxy's own turns, which every player in it receives;
• your request to join a galaxy, and any warning or penalty the galaxy's operator records.

An account, if you make one

If you create an account, or log in with Google, the account holds your email address. It is used to log you in and to send you account emails, such as the link that verifies your address or resets your password. Other players never see it. Your password is held by Google's sign-in service, Firebase Authentication, and never reaches us. With a Google login, Google gives the sign-in service your email address and basic profile, such as your name. The launcher uses only the email address.

Your launcher's log

If something goes wrong, the launcher can send its log so it can be fixed. It is sent only when you press Send, and the launcher tells you what it holds first. Your Windows user name and your email address are taken out of it. A sent log is deleted after 14 days.

What we do not collect

No age, no location, no payment details. There is no advertising on this site or in the game.

Who can see it

Other players see what the game shows them: names, civilisations and the messages sent to them. The people who run the project can see everything listed above, and use it only to run the game and fix problems. The server runs on Google Cloud and Firebase, which store it for us. Google's servers also record the internet address each request comes from, as every web service does.

Asking for your data, or for it to be deleted

Open an issue on the project's GitHub with your player code, and say what you would like. Issues there are public, so do not put your email address or password in one. Your civilisation's name and messages are part of past turns that every player in the galaxy already has, so they cannot be taken back out of those; they can be renamed in turns to come, and everything else above can be deleted.

If you use this web site for any illegal purpose or for any purpose other than that expressly permitted by these terms and conditions or otherwise in breach of these terms and conditions, you will be liable to indemnify us in full for any loss, liability or costs which we incur arising from or in connection with such use or alleged use.

Except as expressly provided in these terms and conditions, we expressly disclaim any further representations, warranties, conditions or other terms, express or implied, by statute, collaterally or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties, conditions or other terms of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose or reasonable care and skill.

We shall not be liable in contract, tort (including negligence), statutory duty or collaterally or otherwise arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions or this web site for consequential, indirect or special loss or damage or any economic losses (including loss of revenues, profits, contracts, business or anticipated savings), in each case, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage and howsoever incurred.
